Organizational structure

Provides descriptive cataloguing of domestic and foreign book production, including continuing resources.

Catalogues modern library collections and serves as a national bibliographic agency and Cataloguing in Publication (CIP) agency.

Acquires foreign materials for the library collections by purchase, exchange, or donation. Acts as a national centre for the international exchange of official publications.

Supplements the holdings with legal deposit copies of non-periodical publications, purchases, and donations.

Performs the functions of the Czech National ISBN and ISMN Agency and is the exclusive distributor of ISBNs and ISMNs in the Czech Republic.

Acquires new materials for the National Archival Collection (NAC), the Universal Library Collection (ULC), and the Study Collection (SC). Also functions as the Czech National Agency for ISBN and ISMN and the national centre for the international exchange of official publications.

It systematically acquires, catalogues, manages, and preserves National Archival Collection, Universal Library Collections and Study Collections. It manages Reserve Collections. It provides complex public library and information services related to the aforementioned collections and to the external collections and information sources as well.
