Creates and develops standards for the long-term preservation of digital data (in particular for metadata formats, image and audio data, etc.). Creates and maintains the NDL Standard, which sets binding rules for digitising institutions in the Czech Republic.

Introduces, creates, and develops standards necessary for the long-term preservation of digital data, such as standards for metadata formats, image and sound data, and persistent identifiers, and analyses the costs associated with the long-term preservation of individual data types. Monitors compliance with standards and their use in key NLCR systems and reflects the needs of the user community. Follows international trends in this area and translates them into the design, functionality, and setup of a system for the long-term protection of digital data. An important role is the coordination function within the Czech Republic, which provides consultation and methodological guidance to other institutions. With the contribution of the Format Committee at the National Digital Library (NDL), it determines the further development of digitisation activities within Czech memory institutions. Ensures the coherence of the national NDL Standard with the standards used internationally in memory institutions. Participates in Czech and international research projects, resulting in specific applications for digitisation activities and the development of the theoretical background of the field through publications.
