Registered users can use the library catalogue to suggest selected titles for digitisation.
Each registered user can use the Suggest for Digitization (Navrhnout k digitalizaci) button, which appears at the records of selected titles in the electronic catalogue, to suggest up to 3 volumes per month. A total of 50 user suggestions can be accepted per calendar month, after which the system blocks this option.
Only Bohemical monographs with a publication date older than 10 years can be suggested. The proposal also automatically excludes volumes that have been or are currently being digitized, that can be ordered through the eBooks on Demand (EOD) service, that are stored only in preservation collections, or that do not have a barcode. After the proposal, NL CR staff will check the physical condition of the volume and decide whether it can be digitized or look for a replacement. The user is informed about the progress and result of the entire process.
Requests sent without using the button (e.g., via email) may be accepted as an expression of interest in possible digitization, but their processing is not a priority.
Volumes subject to copyright protection are accessible only from computers located in the reading rooms and in the Reference Centre of the National Library of the Czech Republic, or via remote access after logging in, if they fall under the Out-of-Commerce Works licence (DNNT).
From 1 April 2026, the service can only be used in the new interface of the NK ČR Catalogue.
